Cameroon’s delegation of 29 players for the 2024 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup have left the shores of the country en route to Antananarivo via Addis Abeba.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The delegation of players retained for the tournament flew out on Wednesday, May 1 via the Yaound\u00e9 – Nsimalen Airport and are expected to arrive this Thursday.<\/p>\n

The 13 days competition is expected to run from May 4 to 12 and will serve as a qualifier for the 2025 Rugby World Cup. The champion of the fourth edition of the competition qualifies directly for the 2025 Rugby World Cup and also for the 2024 WXV 2 competition.<\/p>\n

Cameroon will compete with Kenya, Madagascar and giants South Africa in the four-nation tournament and the winner will qualify for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England. The tenth edition of the global showpiece will be held in August and September next year across eight venues in England.<\/p>\n

South Africa’s Women’s Springbok are favorite in the competition. Their head coach Louis Koen named a squad of 28 players (16 forwards and 12 backs) to travel to Antananarivo. The Springbok Women have won eight of their 12 Tests since Koen took over. They are favourites of the continental competition. The squad assembled in Pretoria on Sunday night and will depart for Madagascar on Thursday.<\/p>\n
