Niamathe Leduc of Central Africa Republic says his U-20 Women’s team currently in Douala is in town to foster the development of the women’s game in their country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The young gaffer revealed his target for the tournament during Monday’s pre-match interaction at the conference room of the Bepanda Omnisport Annex stadium.<\/p>\n

According to Coach Niamathe, there’s a growing interest in the game back at home and they are hoping to take advantage of that hunger reigning in the team.<\/p>\n

“We are here to compete because it’s important to give our girls the chance to compete. We have been following the Cameroon team and preparing depending on the strength and weaknesses of the opponent. Back at home these days, there is growing interest in women’s Football and a lot is getting better,” Coach Niamathe explained.<\/p>\n

Central Africa Republic will line up an U-17 team that is fresh from a heavy defeat in the World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and will see this game as an opportunity to rebuild their confidence.<\/p>\n

“We are very determined and compete to get results that will enhance the growth of this project,” he added.<\/p>\n

Albeit Cameroon’s qualifications for the 2024 U20 women’s world cup, some standout players left the team as graduates; to the senior women’s national team, and some, in search of greener pastures CAR will fancy their chance in this one.<\/p>\n

CAR’s first real test is against Cameroon at 15:30 local time this Tuesday. Afterwards, they will face Congo on Thursday 15.<\/p>\n
