{"id":15118,"date":"2024-02-09T05:12:06","date_gmt":"2024-02-09T05:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/?p=15118"},"modified":"2024-02-09T05:13:15","modified_gmt":"2024-02-09T05:13:15","slug":"fifa-clears-air-on-introduction-of-new-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/fr\/fifa-clears-air-on-introduction-of-new-card\/","title":{"rendered":"FIFA clears air on introduction of new card"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><em>FIFA has followed UEFA decision to reject the &#8216;blue card&#8217; project before discussing it in the IFAB AGM<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>FIFA says the idea must be properly discussed before disclosure of the information to the public<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Only red and yellow cards have been used in football in the past 50 years\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The World football governing body, FIFA, has distanced itself from reports it is planning to introduce new blue cards that could be introduced in football within the shortest possible delay.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reports emerged on Thursday via popular portal Telegram that football&#8217;s law-making body, the International Football Association Board (Ifab), has signed off on what would be the first new card to be used in the sport since the advent of yellow and red cards at the 1970 World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>According to the reports, the revolutionary move was to be announced by Ifab this Friday as part of sin-bin protocols that will see players removed from the field for 10 minutes if they commit a cynical foul or show dissent towards a match official.<\/p>\n<p>Strangely enough, FIFA took to X(former Twitter) on Thursday evening to rubbish the development.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;FIFA wishes to clarify that reports of the so-called &#8216;blue card&#8217; at elite levels of our football are incorrect and premature.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Any such trials, of implemented, should be limited to testing in a responsible manner at lower levels, a position FIFA intends to reiterate when this agenda item is discussed at the IFAB Annual General Assembly meeting on March 2,&#8221; the FIFA reaction read.<\/p>\n<p>The reaction from FIFA is a major setback for the development and comes less than a month after UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin also refused the proposal for Europe&#8217;s continental body.<\/p>\n<p>Football has only known red and yellow cards in the past 50 years.
