{"id":14725,"date":"2024-01-24T19:06:08","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T19:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/?p=14725"},"modified":"2024-01-24T19:06:08","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T19:06:08","slug":"official-djamel-belmadi-out-of-desert-foxes-coaching-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kick442.com\/fr\/official-djamel-belmadi-out-of-desert-foxes-coaching-job\/","title":{"rendered":"Official: Djamel Belmadi out of Desert Foxes coaching job"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Djamel Belmadi last six years at the helm of the double AFCON winners<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>He is the fifth coaching casualty in this year&#8217;s AFCON tournament<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Football Association of Algeria have decided to part ways with the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winning coach Djamel Belmadi following the country&#8217;s group stage exit from the ongoing tournament<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Djamel Belmadi&#8217;s team suffered a 0-1 defeat to Mauritania to extend their winless run in the tournament to six games in the past two tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Algeria were held to draws by Angola and Burkina Faso in their opening Group D games before suffering a first ever loss to Mauritania, ranked 75 places below them.<\/p>\n<p>President Walid Sadi announced the decision this Wednesday, January 24 after a conversation with Djamel Belmadi.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I met with Belmadi to discuss the reasons behind the early exit, and we mutually agreed to terminate his contract,&#8221; Sadi wrote on his official social media account on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 47-year-old former Algeria international took over the Desert Foxes job in August 2018 and guided them to victory in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, but has failed to live up to the strides since then.<\/p>\n<p>Belmadi failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, conceding a last gasp goal at home to Cameroon to go out on the away goals rule in a play-off.<\/p>\n<p>The trainer noted for emotive gesturing on the touch line and a demonstrative demeanour, has clung onto his job despite the recent setbacks.<\/p>\n<p>Algeria was fancied to do well at the Cup of Nations in the C\u00f4te D&#8217;Ivoire with a formidable squad failed woefully.<\/p>\n<p>He is the fifth coaching casualty of the ongoing tournament in the C\u00f4te D&#8217;Ivoire after Gambia\u2019s Tom Saintfiet quit, Chris Hughton, Amrouche of Tanzania amongst others.<\/p>\n<p>His replacement is expected to be named in the days ahead.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Copyright\u00a92023 kick442.com-Cameroon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>All rights reserved.
