With two losses after two games, Guinea Bissau faces Nigeria in their last group games at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan.<\/p>\n
With a slim chance of progressing to the next stage of the competition, the Djurtus winger, Carlos Mane is expecting a tough clash against the Super Eagles.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the game, Mane opined that the team will play for pride and their family back home against the three-time African champions.<\/p>\n
“We are taking on Nigeria. They are very strong. We know and have beaten them before. They know we have quality also and we will try to get points against them,” Mane told journalists during pre-match press conference in Abidjan on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Nigeria coach, Jose Peseiro has coached Mane at Portuguese side, Sporting Lisbon.<\/p>\n
He praised him and the crop of players with the Super Eagles.<\/p>\n
“They have very good players with a good coach who was my coach at Sporting four to five years ago.” He continued. “It will be a very good game for both teams.<\/p>\n
“We know that it will be very difficult to go to the next stage and past the group but we will play for our family and country.
\nWe will put all the power in the game to get points.<\/p>\n
“I think we need to defend well because they have good attackers with very good players. We will try to possess more of the ball and try to score so that Guinea Bissau will get the first win at this AFCON.”<\/p>\n
The Djurtus have conceded six goals and scored two so far in the tournament.<\/p>\n
“It is a game we have to win because we haven’t won any game before now.<\/p>\n
“We are ready with a strong mentality for the game. This is my first AFCON. I am happy to be here with a wonderful organisation.<\/p>\n
“Cote D’Ivoire people are good and sympathetic. They want to help everybody.<\/p>\n
“The first game was very tough for the team. We didn’t play well. We tried our best but lost the game. In the second game, I played ten minutes and tried for the team but we lost again.” He concluded.<\/p>\n
