It was a colourful opening ceremony as expected of the 34th edition of the prestigious TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations,with amazing dancers and musicians on Spotlight.<\/p>\n

For the Nigerian Football Journalist, Oluwashina Okeleji, it was a successful organization.Despite the lack of fire works in the opening fixture pitting Ivory Coast against Guinean Bissau.<\/p>\n

Speaking to kick442, Okeleji said;<\/p>\n

“It was a colourful opening ceremony as expected of an African tournament,we’ve seen that in the last three editions of the tournament, where we had a colourful opening ceremony, you get the fans excited with brilliant performances.”<\/p>\n

“On the football side, the opening game was a quiet one. For me it wasn’t really up to expectation, as typical of the opening ceremony of any competition. I think the weather had something to do with that”,he said.<\/p>\n

The 60,000 Alasane Outattara Olympic Stadium, was overwhelmingly crowded with fans in and out of Ivory Coast. With a stunning spectacle from the AFCON band, led by from the prolific A’Salfo’s Magic System group, Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and Egyptian Ramadan.<\/p>\n

“However,the two goals scored by Fofana and krasso for the elephants, has given us a good tempo of what we’re going to live through out the competition.”<\/p>\n

“The Ivorian side will have a lot to do, while Guinean Bissau is expected to strike hard to come out of the group stage. But for the elephants, it was a nice debut of the competition”.<\/p>\n

“Being on a Sunday, l think the Nigerian versus Equatorial Guinea game, and the host of other fixtures, will tell us how apt are these
\nteams to produce good results, ” Okeleji ended.<\/p>\n

As the competition gets to its second day, many fans to the likes of Cameroon are impatiently waiting on the Indomitable lions,in their first outing against Guinea, come Monday 15. After having, the fear of losing its lead star and skipper Vincent Aboubakar, following a minor injury sustained during a training session lately.<\/p>\n
