Since the start of the 2022\/2023 football season of Cameroon Elite One Championship, the tides have consistently been on the low for North West Elite one clubs PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda and Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda.<\/p>\n
The season which started months ago have only seen both sides enjoy the red zone of the classification table in both pool A and B, a record result which has left tongues waggling.<\/p>\n
After nine games played each, the Abakwa Boys have unfortunately recorded just seven points, two wins, one draw, six defeats and are second from the bottom in Pool A, one place better than Avion Academy logged first from the bottom.<\/p>\n
The Yellow Submarines on their path from nine games played have picked up two wins, two draws and five defeats. Coach Anumewa Franklin and his boys are bottom placed seated in pool B with eight points so far.<\/p>\n

Recently on Social Media fora and in small discussions, it is common to hear fans and football diehards of the North West region and other regions talk about the performance Of these two teams who have penned their names in the books of football in the country. (PWD 2020 Elite One Champions, 2021 Cup of Cameroon Winner, YOSA 2013 Cup of Cameroon winner).<\/p>\n
Some have attributed the poor performance of these teams to the fact that they are playing their home games out of home soil, resulting to lack of home support, no home advantage. PWD and YOSA are playing their home games at the Bamendzi Stadium and the MTN Arena in Mbouda respectively. It should also be recalled that during the 2021\/2022 football season, both teams played their home games in these same stadia and were better than this season.<\/p>\n
The issue of a home ground has always been a problem for the region. Two years ago, PWD and YOSA used the Yong Francis Arena in Mile six Nkwen for their home games till they were moved by the federation to have easy access to broadcast the games.<\/p>\n
Weeks back the construction of the Bamenda Proximity stadium was launched by the North West FECAFOOT President, Mbigha Njah Felix awaiting completion.<\/p>\n
Others hold the view that it\u2019s as a result of the constant changing of coaches which is destabilizing the play style of the team. Before the start of the season, coach David Pagou was replaced by Nkabyo Martin for PWD while Nkabyo Martin who was head coach of YOSA last season was replaced by David Momo and Momo later replaced by former Rangers FC\u2019s gaffer Anumewa Franklin. The changing of these coaches in the middle of a season causes confusion and definitely players will need more time to stabilize themselves.<\/p>\n
What Lies Ahead<\/p>\n
Matchday 11 has been programmed by the football governing body of the country FECAFOOT whereby the Blue and White jersey club of Bamenda will take on Renaissance FC of Ngoumou come Saturday 31, December 2022 at the Ngoa-EKELLE Stadium in Yaound\u00e9 at 3:00pm. A game to be officiated by Mefire Abdou.<\/p>\n
Renaissance FC is coming in ranked eighth with 11 points, four points ahead of the Abakwa Boys<\/p>\n
YOSA will face Les Astres Football club of Douala at the MTN Arena in Mbouda at 2:00pm, to be officiated by Mbatonga Ottou. The Brazilians of Bepanda are ranked eighth with 10 points, three places better than YOSA<\/p>\n
NOTE<\/p>\n
The Season is still young with many games left to be played. All what is needed at this point is for these these to get themselves ready, device better strategies and grab as many points as possible. Should the league is terminated now, if will a sad page for the region as both teams will be relegated, leaving the region with no Elite One club.<\/p>\n
Things can still change in the course of time and it is never over until it is over.<\/p>\n
