Daka counts 18 goals in 40 senior national team appearances<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Leicester City goal poacher could become the first to score four different categories of the AFCON<\/p>\n

England-based Zambian forward, Patson Daka could become the first player to complete the rare feat of scoring at all categories of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) if he finds the back of the net during the 2023 men’s senior competition in C\u00f4te D’Ivoire.<\/p>\n

The Leicester City forward who previously scored at the U-17, U-20, and U-23 AFCON tournaments will lead Zambia’s frontline for coach Avram Gram for the 34th edition of the soccer frenzy to run from January 13 to February 11 across the Republic of C\u00f4te D’Ivoire.<\/p>\n

The 2017 CAF ‘Young Player of the Year’ previously scored twice for his country’s U-17 team back in 2015 and was a scorer on four occasions for their U-20s back in 2017 and completed the scoring in a hat-trick of tournaments with a goal at the U-23 tournament two years later in Egypt.<\/p>\n

Attention will hence be on the former RB Salzburg finisher as he looks to set another record in C\u00f4te D’Ivoire in what will also be his first senior AFCON tournament.<\/p>\n

The 2012 AFCON winners are currently in Saudi Arabia for AFCON preparations. They will face Cameroon in January in a pre-tournament friendly.<\/p>\n

Zambia are based in San Pedro during the group stage of the tournament. They will compete with neighbors DR Congo, returning Tanzania and 1976 winners Morocco in a tight Group F Daka is expected to impact.<\/p>\n

The Chipolopolos as they are popularly known will open their competition against two-time winners, DR Congo on Wednesday, January 17. They will face Tanzania four days later before capping group stage assignments against favourites Morocco.<\/p>\n

Daka’s next goal for his country will be his 19th as he looks to add to the 40 caps won so far to also inspire another Gram’s team to a good run at the tournament after his amazing ride to the runners-up position as head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana during the 2015 tournament in Equatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n
