The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has had its appeal against a \u20ac1.6 Million fine from FIFA rejected by the Swiss Federal Tribunal, confirming the Court of Arbitration For Sports (CAS) decision of July 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n

FECAFOOT filed a request to have the sanction annulled in an attempt not to avoid the payment but CAS wrote on May 8 to inform their Cameroonian client that they are maintaining the initial decision from the FIFA players status commission.<\/p>\n

FECAFOOT again contested the decision and dragged it to the Swiss Federal Tribunal which has unfortunately maintained the CAS decision.<\/p>\n

“The Swiss Federal Tribunal has dismissed the appeal filed by FECAFOOT who sought an order from CAS to have their \u20ac1.6 M lifted,” a TFS M said in a statement we stumbled on on November 3.<\/p>\n

In addition to the initial claim, FECAFOOT has been tasked to pay \u20ac17 000 as the litigation charges and an additional \u20ac19000 compensation to Conceicao.<\/p>\n

FECAFOOT is yet to react to the decision though previously by Blaise Djounang, it’s Secretary General had announced they will contest a CAS ruling.<\/p>\n

Conceicao was sacked in February 2022, four months after signing a new contract on the heels of a satisfactory first stint in which he suffered two defeats in 24 matches over a two-year period.<\/p>\n

It is not the first time FECAFOOT has been fined huge sums for wrongfully terminating a contract with a coach. Hugo Broos, Clarence Seedorf and Patrick Kluivert among others caused a similar situation.<\/p>\n
