Minister of Sports Development John Owan Enoh has commended sports journalists in the country under the aegis of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for their contributions to sports development in the country.<\/p>\n
The minister received the leadership of the body in Abuja, on Tuesday. He applauded sports journalists for their willingness to be partners in the development of sports in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
He restated his commitment in working with sports journalists to foster development in sector, by effectively giving the media a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n
John Enoh said \u201cthank you for your commitments to working together with the ministry. It matters to me and my team. Any one who occupies this ministry knows the importance of working with the media. I am glad that through this effort, we are able to forge a relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYour request to be a part of what I am doing is very important and I will do all I can not to go wrong in that scope,\u201d the minister added.<\/p>\n
He stated that he will lead an open administration and transparent leadership, in the interest of sports development in collaboration with all and sundry.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy approach to this assignment is with an open mind, that is open to all positive possibilities to enhance sports development. In the course of the work, when I find opportunities to contribute to capacity building (of the association), you will not be denied of such opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
He encouraged sports journalists to shun sensationalism in their reportage and build a positive image for sports in the country.<\/p>\n
SWAN President, Isaiah Benjamin thanked the minister for the opportunity to be collaborators in the sports sector, as the sports writers\u2019 body pledged their support.<\/p>\n
Secretary of SWAN, Ikenna Okonkwo of Blueprint Newspaper officially introduced members of the association to the minister, as they restated their commitment to sports development.<\/p>\n
