- Hugo Ekitike reportedly now open to joining the indomitable lions

The Cameroon football Federation is in talks with the Franco – Cameroonian striker Hugo Ekitike after he was left out of the latest France national team squad.
Reports indicate that Ekitike is said to be partially open to representing Cameroon as an indomitable lion.
This development comes after Ekitike’s recent comments on his international plan . The 22-year-old striker who is eligible to play for both France and Cameroon had previously dismissed the idea of representing his country of origin. However after being snubbed by the French national team Ekitike is considering his options.
In a recent interview, Ekitike revealed that playing for France is a dream come through but if he’s overlooked when the time comes, particularly for 2026 world Cup, he won’t have any other choice than to join his Father’s country.
“Playing for France is my ultimate dream .But if I’m overlooked when the time comes at the 2026 World Cup,I really won’t have any other choice but to represent my Father’s country and I’m talking about Cameroon ” he said.
These comments surfaced on Facebook two months ago but when asked about the authenticity of these remarks, Ekitike firmly denied them.
“I have never spoken about my national team choice; I categorically deny what has recently been reported on the subject,” he stated.
With the 2026 World Cup just around the corner, Ekitike’s decision on his international future is opt to him to decide.
