Cameroonian midfielder Wilfred Jaures Kaptoum has secured a return to Spanish top-flight football after his club UD Las Palmas obtained promotion to the La Liga over the weekend.
Las Palmas played a goalless draw against Alaves on Saturday, obtaining the point needed to ensure they finished runners-up of the second tier championship behind Granada.
The promotion means Kaptoum who previously featured for Real Betis in the La Liga makes his return to the competition after two years.
The 26-year-old former Barcelona and Almeria man is no stranger to Spanish football, thus making him one of the elements to count on next season though he didn’t really make meaningful contribution during the promotion campaign.
The outcast Cameroon international will add to Martin Hongla and a few other Cameroonians on the books of La Liga clubs.
Consistency at this level can help him walk his way back into the national team picture he has not made since 2020.
Las Palmas will join 19 other clubs to compete in the prestigious La Liga championship next season.
