Lekie Filles midfielder Achang Cordelia Kamayi has insisted her side are ‘still in a better position than their rivals’ despite a goalless draw with Fortuna on Sunday as they begin their second segment of the Guinness Super League season, at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.
Tabe Brenda put the hosts ahead just six minutes into the contest but someone they missed multiple chances to extend their lead till the 55th minutes of the second segment when Christian Kiki Meva scored the goal that was enough to earn a point for gritty Fortuna.
The result means Lekie will cut Lekie’s lead on Éclair of Sa’a to three points after 12 games apiece this season.
Despite dropping points for the second time this season the Cameroon U17 international remains confident and insists they will be crowned champions in the end.
“We are not too happy about the game of today because we only had a draw. Technically we had difficulties. Now we just need to work harder. We tried our best but didn’t get maximum points but we believe with hard-work we will be first at the end of the season,” Cordelia said.
The midfielder’s bold call highlights how much confidence is in the ranks of the Guinness Super League aspiring champions despite the form of Regional rivals Eclair who beat Caiman on the day to stay within touching distance of Lekie.
Lekie Filles are up against Eclair on match day 13 of the championship this Wednesday. The game is already a decider though after it there are nine league games for either side.
Wednesday’s Guinnessico is thus a major attraction as it will determine the rest of the season for both clubs and the entire championship.
