President Fouzi Lekjaa of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the head coach of the senior national team Walid Regragui were surprised visitors in the Wydad Casablanca camp this Friday as they intensify preparations for the second-leg CAF Champions League final fixture against Al Ahly of Egypt.
Messrs Lekjaa and Walid spent part of their day at the Mohammed VI Academy complex, pushing the players morally to ready them for the tough task at home on Sunday.
Wydad suffered a 1-2 defeat in the first-leg fixture last weekend in Cairo, but are hoping to take advantage of their home support to overturn the tie and retain the trophy they beat Al Ahly to win last year.
President Lekjaa and former Wydad coach Walid have developed the culture of being by Moroccan clubs during moments like this.
Sunday’s final at the Mohammed V stadium is thus a tricky one as Wydad only need a win and a clean sheet or by more than a goal to retain the title.
Wydad are eyeing a fourth CAF Champions League crown while Al Ahly are out in search of a record 11th.
