Union Sportive de Douala, a prominent football club in Cameroon, has unveiled its estimated budget for the upcoming season: a substantial 120 million CFA francs. This decision was reached during the club’s general assembly meeting held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, in Douala, the country’s economic capital.

Nickname the club with over a million supporters, the Douala based side aims to transform itself into a business structure open to investors and shareholders. Last season, financial challenges loomed large, with 53 million CFA francs of the total 104 million spent coming directly from the club president’s pockets. To diversify funding sources, Union Sportive de Douala now seeks external investors.

The allocated budget will facilitate strategic player recruitment, ensuring a competitive squad throughout the season. Notably, only 13 players from the previous roster will remain with the club. These players will be under the guidance of a new technical team led by Coach Anicet Mbarga Foe. The experienced tactician, currently pursuing further training in Europe, is expected to finalize his contract upon his return to Cameroon.

During the general assembly, President Polycarpe Kenmogne and Chairman of the Elite Council, Prince Ngassa Happi Emmanuel, took stock of the recently concluded season. Acknowledging the team’s challenges under former coach Jenny Neville and the subsequent recruitment of Ndoumbe Bosso, the club is determined to avoid repeating last season’s struggles. Their sights are set on clinching one of the domestic league titles.

Despite difficult conditions, the assembly received contributions totaling 6 million CFA francs from various support groups. As the deadline for teams to hold their general assembly approaches (July 31, as set by FECAFOOT), Union Sportive de Douala remains committed to its ambitious goals for the upcoming season.
