  • Volcan of Noun FC fans protested at the FECAFOOT headquarters this Monday and plan to return on Tuesday in larger numbers
  • They carried placards requesting Samuel Eto’o Fils to use his FECAFOOT presidential position to fetch justice for them
  • Volcan faithfuls believe an intruder caused their semi-final defeat against Union Sportif de Abong Mbang FC

This Monday, August 19 has been an unusual day especially for private and public security agents at the headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) as they were treated to extra work by hundreds of fans of Volcan of Noun FC.

The fans of the mystical club gathered in their numbers to push for what they describe as justice, claiming their club was robbed in the semi-final of the 2024 national interpools that concluded on Sunday with a victory for Atlantic of Kribi.

According to our sources at Volcan, the fans want FECAFOOT to compensate them for damages as they claim the goal they conceded in additional time against Union Sportif of Abong Mbang before going on to lose on penalties after the 1-1 draw was an illegitimate goal.

Volcan fans are of the opinion there was a supporter of USA on the pitch who distracted their team to cause the late equaliser.

Their claims are backed by footages of police officers battling with a fan identified with Union Sportif of Abong Mbang who brought an extra ball into the field of play and played it into the air after police attempted to stop him.

It’s unclear how his actions may have influenced play, but Volcan conceded the equaliser minutes after the incident sparking huge inquest that proceeded until close to an hour after the game.

Officials of Volcan wrote a technical protest against the match officials and were expecting a feedback before the final but didn’t get one as FECAFOOT Homologation and Disciplinary committee allowed the winner to be decided on the pitch and also showed mercy to the Noun club despite the unsportsmanlike conduct of their fans who stopped the match officials from leaving the pitch for close to an hour.

The interpools are over. As it stands, Atlantic of Kribi and Union Sportif of Abong Mbang secured qualification on the pitch but looks far from over for the Volcan fraternity who are keen on getting into the second tier championship even if it will mean obtaining that through a litigation process.

The MTN Elite Two championship is expected to start in October with 17 clubs assured of a place in it if FECAFOOT only promotes two clubs from this interpools.
