Inter Milan goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has earned himself the golden glove of the just-ended UEFA Champions League for being an outstanding keeper throughout the competition this season, despite his side’s 0-1 defeat to Manchester City in the final.

The 27-year-old Cameroonian finished the competition with the most clean sheets (8) in 13 games and equally made the most number of saves in the competition to earn the best keeper of the Champions League.

Onana beats Manchester City‘s Ederson Moraes, Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, Diogo Costa of Porto and Simon Mignolet of Club Brugge, who conceded more than the Inter Milan shot stopper.

He is one of the world’s most celebrated keepers in recent times, especially after aiding the Italian Serie A club reach the finals of the world’s most prestigious competition for the first time since they last did and won in 2010.

Onana, who arrived on a free transfer from Ajax Amsterdam this season has earned the love and admiration of a good number of football lovers for his unique play style, especially being very flexible with his legs.

The Champions league final was an evidence of these characteristics of the prolific goalkeeper, who visibly gave City’s Erling Halaand and co-strikers a tough time when he had the ball in his possession until the unexpected goal came in.

The former Ajax shot-stopper became the first Inter goalkeeper to keep more than seven clean sheets (the most for an Inter keeper ) in a single season in the European competition, beating the records of Julio Caesar and Toldo in terms of clean sheets kept in a single season.

Onana is on the radar of several big guns who are keen on snatching him for next football season.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham amongst others are looking at a possible summer transfer deal, but only Inter will decide at the end of the day.
