Ahead of 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super 6 final, Cameroon player, Touta Evanick is hopeful that her team, Bayelsa Queens can retain the league title.

Touta alongside national team goalkeeper, Bawou Ange Gabriella won the league title under the tutelage of Moses Aduku last season.

They both won the WAFU-B Zonal Qualifiers in Ivory Coast and also won bronze medal at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco.

The Yenegoa based side will face host, Delta Queens in the final this Sunday in a bid to retain the title it won last season.

It has won all two games against FC Robo Queens and Rivers Angels at the Super Six this season to make it to the final.

The home crowd will be supporting Delta Queens to win its first league title since 2011 as Tosan Blankson’s side hope to end over a decade wait for its first league trophy.

With Bawou leaving the team ahead of the Super Six, the onus now lies with Monle Omini to try and replicate the feat of the Cameroonian who won the best goalkeeper award last season in the Nigerian top flight women’s league.

A win for Bayelsa Queens on Sunday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State capital will see Touta retain the league title and make its second appearance at the WAFU-B Zonal Qualifiers.

The WAFU-B Zonal Qualifiers will also serve as the qualifiers for the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast later this year.
