Ivorian forward Jean Charles Ahoua was the hero this Tuesday as he scored a 95th minute penalty to secure maximum points for Simba SC of Cameroonian duo Che Malone and Leonel Ateba Mbida who remained atop the Tanzanian Premier League standings.

JKT Tanzania looked destined to pick up at least a point from the deep into added time but unfortunately for them the league leaders won a 93rd minute penalty and the rest from then on was history.

On-form Ivorian forward Ahoua stepped up from the 11 meters spot and converted from the spot for his seventh goal of the season to ensure maximum points stayed with the Ngovu Moja, sparking another late celebrations at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

The victory is Simba’s 12th in 14 games this season and opens a four points gap on defending champions Yanga SC though they have a game in hand to Dodoma Jiji scheduled on Christmas Day.

Simba SC are a serious option for the domestic championship title this season as the Che Malone inspired side have scored 30 goals and only conceded five so far.

Ahoua’s latest goal makes him the second highest scorer in the championship with seven goals and a goal shy of lead scorer Elvis Rupia of Singida Black Stars. Leonel who shares the dressing room with the Ivorian is two goals behind him and the second best Simba scorer with five goals so far.

Simba SC will face Singida Black Stars in their next outing on Saturday, December 28.
