Njalla Quan Sports Academy (NQSA) of Limbe marked their return to the Southwest regional playoffs in grand style, outsmarting last year’s runner up, Best stars Academy of Limbe by 2-0 at the Molyko Omnisport stadium.
Emmanuel Njie’s own goal and a last minute strike from Ngassa Jorex Ngeme ensured the boys of coach Teteh Edwin advance to the next round of the competition.
The Bimbia boys got the most of the opportunities, recording the best chances though they did enough to win.
The league’s highest goal scorer, Corines Bodne Che of Best Stars missed a clear chance at goal to put his side ahead at the 22’.
The football lessons exchanged between the Academicians, was indeed a fierce one witnessed at the Molyko Omnisport stadium before a jam packed stand.
NQSA’s top scorer, Ngassa Jorex almost got the team’s fans on their feet when he beat two defenders and came face to face with goalkeeper Alma Baba, unfortunately Mbella Robinson came swiftly from behind to sweep off his attempt.
That timely intervention birthed a corner kick opportunity for the NQSA. Alma came out of his box to clear danger.
The first 45 minutes elapsed on a zero all tie. Upon resumption, Coach Djoufack Saturnin filed in midfielder, Nestor Otia for Sylvanus Egbe Agbor.
The score line remained the same, though NQSA mounted pressure which eventually gave them several opportunities, yet all wasted.
Alma put up a a great performance at goal in the second segment, denying the opponent attackers an opportunity to find the back of his net.
Luck smiled on the Bimbia boys when at the 78th minute, Emmanuel Njie who was arguably the best player in this encounter for Best Stars, headed in an own goal upon trying to clear danger from inside the box.
At this point, captain Luiz Ediagengole and boys badly pressed for an equalizer which was far fetched. Luiz fired at goal from inside the pox but was stopped by goalkeeper Desire Oyong.
NQSA’s highest goal scorer, Ngassa Jorex drew the curtains by scoring his eight goal of the competition at the 88th minute with the second goal, outsmarting Alma on a one on one confrontation to find the back of his net.
This puts an end to Best Stars four season consecutive run in the regional playoffs in which they have made the finals on three occasions in a row. NQSA rekindles hope of representing the region for the first time at the National Interpools. They will face the winner between Tiko United FC and Istanbul FA.
