Super Falcons drop and Indomitable Lionesses move up in latest FIFA rankings

Nine time African champions, Nigeria dropped two places on the FIFA Women’s rankings released on Friday.

The Nigeria’s senior women’s national team dropped from 34th position occupied in December to 36th in the world.

The Super Falcons remained Africa’s top ranked women’s football team.

African champions and their opponents in the final round of Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers, South Africa moved a place to the 51st position from their hitherto 52nd spot.

They are second on he continent ahead of Morocco which moved two places from 60th to 58th.

Ghana also dropped on the rankings from 61st to 64th spot while Zambia moved five places to 65th.

Meanwhile, Cameroon moved a place to the 67th spot despite a 1-0 agreggate loss to Nigeria in the third round of Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers.

The Indomitable Lionesses will also not take part at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after falling to Kenya in the Qualifiers.

Cote D’Ivoire, Tunisia, Mai, and two time WAFCON winners, Equatorial Guinea completes the top ten women’s ranked teams in Africa.
