Former Intermediate Lions of Cameroon forward Roche Foning was on target on Wednesday evening but his Tunisian club AS Soliman secummed to a home defeat against giants Esperance of Tunis in the second round of matches for the 2024/25 Tunisian Premier League.

Goals from Firas Ghouma and substitute Abdramane Konate ensured the defending champions prevent a shock result at the Stade de Korba and guaranteed a 2-1 win in the game Foning opened scoring.

It took just 17 minutes for the former Dragon of Yaoundé and Union Sportif of Douala forward to find the back of the net for the first time this season. Capitalising on a brief lack of concentration at the back to punish their visitors after 17 minutes.

Despite falling behind, Esperance of Tunis dominated the contest and were duly rewarded for their efforts when Ghouma pushed the ball pass his own keeper to level matters just before the pause.

The comeback was completed in the 66th minute as Konate got the second for the boys just ten minutes upon his introduction, benefiting from a Youssef Abdelli assist.

Though there were chances in the last 26 minutes of the game, both sides failed to make the most of them and the contest ended 2-1 in favour of Esperance of Tunis.

The win maintains the perfect start for Esperance who have won their opening two games while Soliman remains winless after two games with zero point.
