Historic Cameroonian Club Sable of Batie opened their 2025 National interpools on Monday with a comfortable 2-0 win against Olympique of Meiganga on Monday at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.
Goals from Fifen Abdou from a debatable penalty awarded by Ndanga Moundi and an early second half strike from Stephane Abada was enough to earn three points for the Sand Sand boys.
Sable that narrowly missed out on qualifying for the interpools last season but they secured qualification for this year’s event about a month ago and began thorough preparations for the finals, a sharp contrast to the situation of Olympique of Meiganga that only secured qualification less than ten days ago and were battling with fatigue.
At the start of the game, both sides matched each other toe-to-toe but it was only a matter of time before Sable’s advantage was manifested.
Though it turned out to be a convincing win, Olympique of Meiganga made it tough for the West Regional champions, creating a number of chances which could have given them a goal of their own.
As it has been the case for most of this season, Fifen showed up for his team just before the interval, converting from the spot just before the pause.
Abada added a second goal in the 58th minute and there was no way back for Olympique as their chances to even get a goal proved abortive.
The game finished on a 2-0 score, marking the first three points for the side hoping to break the West Region’s long run without promotion of a club from the national playoffs.
