The CAF Confederation Cup fixture pitting Rivers United of Nigeria against DR Congo’s DC Motema Pembe which failed to happen as planned on Wednesday, March 8 will be played this Thursday.
Sources from both clubs have confirmed receipt of official communication from CAF which reschedules the match-day four clash to 1400 GMT this March 9.
DC Motema’s delegation reportedly had logistics challenges which prevented them from getting to Nigeria on time to honor the initial schedule.
The Nigerian champions were 1-0 winners of the reversed fixture a fortnight ago in the Congo Republic.
The next contest to happen at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium in Uyo is crucial for both institutions as they go in search of points to enhance their chances of qualification for the quarter-final.
Rivers with six points from three games lost top spot in Group B on Wednesday. ASEC Memosa’s 1-0 win against Diables Noirs in Brazaville to took points tally to seven points from four games.
A win for Rivers of Cameroonian defender Ngweni Ndasi will put them a step closer to quarter-final qualification and eliminate DC Motema Pembe.
