Moroccan club Wydad Athletics is reported to be closing in on signing 26-year-old Cameroonian Didier Lamkel Zé.

“Wydad (has) therefore given the green light to complete the transaction. Lamkel Zé is already open to a departure for the big Moroccan club, and he will go there to sign if the contract suits him,” Walfoot reports.

It has been a roller-coaster journey for Didier in the past couple of years with the Cameroonian failing to nail down a spot. After a bitter fallout with Antwerp in 2021, Didier went on loan to Dunajská Streda, where he played just 7 games, scoring two goals.

He will then go on loan to Khimki and Metz before on 23 August 2022, Lamkel Zé signed a three-year contract with Kortrijk. He has so far featured ten times for the club, scoring one goal but reports from Walfoot says coach Bernd Storck no longer wants Didier.

Should the deal push through, Didier will be a good addition to the Wydad side that is currently pushing FAR Rabat for the title this year. Wydad currently sits in the third position in the Botola Pro with 21 points, one point behind FAR Rabat and FUS Rabat. The next encounter for Wydad comes up on January 13 against Hassania Agadir.
