Reigns Soccer Agency boss, Olawale Onipede, has condemned the Atalanta FC coach, Gasperini’s statements towards Nigeria international and Africa Best Ademola Lookman.

The Portuguese base agent was shocked and amazed by Gasperini’s statements on Africa’s best player of the year.

“Gasperini is a top gaffer and has vast experience in this industry, and player management is the key to managing top players in your team, but he loses it all due to emotional expressions,” He said.

“To be honest, he had something in mind for the player before now. If not, he can’t say such statements to your match-winner in the league, even the Europa League final. It is common among Italian coaches and clubs to condemn African players who make mistakes during a big match, and this is not professional in this industry and uncalled for.

“This player has sacrificed more than enough for the club. This is disgusting and disrespectful to the image. If this continues in the Italy league, it would not speak well about the league image to Nigeria players and others in Africa that trade in the league there. I will advise the Africa best to brace up and make a move by the summer because he doesn’t belong to that family anymore.”

Meanwhile, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman says it was “deeply disrespectful” for his coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, to describe him as “one of the worst penalty takers” he has seen.

Lookman scored 34 seconds after coming on as a half-time substitute but also missed a penalty as Atalanta exited the Champions League against Club Brugge on Tuesday.

After the match, Gasperini said Lookman was not supposed to take the penalty and claimed the 27-year-old had a “frankly terrible record even in training”.

“Being singled out in the manner I have been not only hurt but feels deeply disrespectful, not least because of the immense hard work and commitment I have always put in each and every day to help bring success to this club and the incredible fans of Bergamo,” Lookman responded on social media on Wednesday.
