Referee Mawounong Hadrien was forced to run for safety after being chased by supporters at the end of a West Regional League match in Bafoussam.
The incident occurred following the final whistle of the game between Bafoussam Rizière FC and Volcan FC, where tensions had reportedly been building over several refereeing decisions.

Footages from Footazimuts shows a section of the crowd reacted angrily at full-time, with some supporters entering the pitch and attempting to confront the match official.

Mawounong immediately sprinted towards the dressing rooms, with videos circulating on social media showing him fleeing as security personnel struggled to restore order.

He is reported to have escaped unharmed. The episode has once again highlighted concerns over the safety of referees in Cameroon’s regional competitions, where security measures are often limited.

There has been no immediate response from the Cameroon Football Federation or regional authorities regarding possible disciplinary action.

Incidents involving match officials have been reported across various levels of domestic football, prompting repeated calls for better protection and stricter sanctions.
