Cameroon International Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the New York Red Bulls, joining the squad as a Designated Player.
The transfer was confirmed on December 18, 2024, and his contract runs through 2026, with an option for an additional year, pending the clearance of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.
Choupo-Moting’s arrival is set to be a pivotal signing for the Red Bulls as they look to sharpen their attacking line. With a wealth of experience from Europe’s elite leagues, he’s expected to bring both quality and leadership to the pitch.
Jochen Schneider, the Head of Sport for NYRB, couldn’t hide his excitement about the acquisition.

At 35 years old, Choupo-Moting boasts an impressive CV, having played for renowned clubs such as Hamburger SV, 1. FSV Mainz 05, FC Schalke 04, Stoke City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.
His stint at Bayern was particularly noteworthy, where he made 122 appearances and found the back of the net 38 times, helping the team secure three Bundesliga titles, one DFB-Pokal, and one FIFA Club World Cup.
On the international stage, Choupo-Moting has donned the Cameroon jersey 73 times, scoring 20 goals and featuring in three FIFA World Cups (2010, 2014, and 2022), including a memorable strike against Serbia. His addition is anticipated to elevate the Red Bulls’ attacking dynamics as they aim for silverware in the upcoming season.
