Ghana 5–0 Central African Republic (Salisu 37’, Partey 52’, Djiku 60’, Ayew 74’, Sulemana 88’)

Ghana delivered a ruthless second-half display to crush the Central African Republic 5–0 at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, strengthening their grip on Group I and edging closer to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After a patient opening half that saw Mohammed Salisu head the Black Stars into the lead, Ghana ran riot after the interval with goals from Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana to record their biggest win of the campaign.

First half — Salisu breaks the deadlock

Otto Addo’s side made a confident start, dictating play through the midfield pairing of Thomas Partey and Elisha Owusu while Mohammed Kudus operated freely between the lines.
The Central African Republic sat deep and compact, frustrating Ghana’s early efforts.

The breakthrough finally came in the 37th minute when Mohammed Salisu, one of Ghana’s central defenders, rose highest to meet Kudus’ curling corner and directed a firm header into the net — his first goal of the qualifiers.

That strike gave the Black Stars a deserved 1–0 lead at the break, reflecting their territorial dominance and patient build-up play.

Second half — clinical and commanding

After halftime, Ghana stepped up their intensity and turned control into complete dominance.

  • 52’ — Thomas Partey: The Arsenal midfielder doubled the advantage, driving in a crisp low shot from the edge of the box after Kudus’ clever flick.
  • 60’ — Alexander Djiku: The Fenerbahçe defender made it 3–0, heading in Kudus’ pinpoint corner to mirror his defensive partner Salisu’s opener.
  • 74’ — Jordan Ayew: The Crystal Palace forward showed composure to turn and slot home from close range following sustained pressure.
  • 88’ — Kamaldeen Sulemana: The Southampton winger capped the rout, racing through on goal and finishing coolly inside the far post.

By the final whistle, Ghana had outclassed their opponents in every department — strong in defence, sharp in transition, and relentless in attack.

Defenders deliver as Ghana show full balance

Centre-backs Mohammed Salisu and Alexander Djiku were central to Ghana’s dominance, scoring the first and third goals while maintaining a near-flawless defensive record.
Their control at the back allowed Partey and Kudus to orchestrate the game higher up the pitch, while full-backs supported fluidly without sacrificing structure.

Player of the Match: Thomas Partey (Ghana)

Commanded midfield, scored a superb goal, and set the tone for Ghana’s second-half dominance.
