The chairman of the board of Racing de Bafoussam, André Marie Kuatché, has resigned from his role, pointing to financial difficulties, internal tensions and threats to his safety as reasons for his departure.

Kuatché submitted his resignation on 7 March 2026 to Njitack Ngompe Pele, who heads the club’s council of sages.
In his resignation letter, the outgoing chairman described an increasingly hostile environment that made it difficult for him to continue carrying out his duties.

He cited the lack of financial resources, limited support from the club’s traditional partners and persistent instability around the team.

Kuatché also spoke of internal tensions that he said had affected the club’s daily operations, including attempts to destabilise the leadership, calls for player strikes and disruptions to training sessions.

“The internal tensions, destabilisation campaigns, incitement to strike within the team and disruptions of training sessions, alongside repeated attacks through the media and on social networks, have created an extremely difficult climate,” he wrote.

He added that threats directed at him and his property further influenced his decision.
“After careful reflection, and following the advice of my doctors as well as the insistence of my family, I have decided to resign from my functions with immediate effect,” the letter stated, adding that the decision ends all his administrative, financial and decision-making responsibilities at the club.

The resignation comes just a week after the club’s leadership publicly appealed for assistance as Racing battles a deepening financial crisis.

One of the historic clubs in Cameroon’s West Region, Racing – often referred to as Tout Puissant de l’Ouest – are also struggling on the pitch. They currently sit bottom of Group B with four points from six matches.
Kuatché’s departure further highlights the challenges facing the club and renews debate about the financial sustainability of community-based football teams in Cameroon.
