- Aboubakar Nagida and his Stade Rennes team mates will get preparation for the 2025/26 season underway this Thursday
- Nagida is in his second season at Rennes and is hoping to establish himself like the likes of compatriot Stephane Mbia and Christopher Wooh who are considered club greats
- Rennes will play a total of six matches in preparation for the new season
Cameroon’s talented full-back Aboubakar Nagida and his French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennes will get their pre-season matches underway this Thursday morning with a fixture against lower tier French side Stade Briochin at the Stade La Piverdiere in France.
The 10AM kickoff will provide an opportunity for Senegalese coach Habib Beye to evaluate his side’s response to the physical and tactical efforts put in place so far in prelude to the new season.
The game will be a fitting opportunity for 20-year-old Nagida to grow his reputation and win more confidence from the technical crew ahead of the new season having shown glimpses of brilliance in the past campaign and being tipped for more by his lead trainer a few weeks ago.
The same can’t be said for Nagida’s fellow defender and compartiot, Christopher Maurice Wooh. The 25YO is more established and has been a mainstay at the club, only that his close season break has been dominated by rumors linking him with a move away from the club, with franchises in England and Turkey lurking.
With or without Wooh Nagida and Rennes will hope to extend their unbeaten run against Stade Briochin to three matches, having won and draw against them in those double Ligue 2 meetings in September 1993 and March 1994.
After this Thursday’s fixture, Wolves will play Brest, Nantes, Sociedad and Genoa to cap their preparation for their new season that starts on August 17 with the visit of Olympique Marseille at the Roazhon Park.
