Former STV and Africa News leads Sports personnel, Philemon Mbale has initiated the long-awaited battle against Drugs consumption amongst youths in the Tiko sub division and beyond.

Determined to make a difference, Mbale decided to use his platform and influence to address this pressing issue.

We understand Mbale will lead the ‘NO DRUGS’ organization, which has dedicated to fighting drug abuse through education, sports, and recreational activities.

In collaboration with ‘Reserve for Humanity’, they will launched the project by distributing 10,000 books and school materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Tiko and Kumba.

The Power of Education

The organization led by Philemon believes education is a critical tool in the fight against drug abuse. By providing books and educational resources, the association hopes to empower young people with knowledge and opportunities that would take them away from the path of drug abuse.

Sports and Recreation: A Positive Outlet

Recognizing the importance of sports as a positive outlet for energy and emotions, Philemon and his partners will organize sports tournaments and recreational activities to engage the youth. These events not only provides a safe space for young people to connect and have fun but also served as platforms to educate them about the dangers of drug abuse.

Philemon will use his skills as a journalist and former footballer to share powerful stories of athletes who had overcome adversity and achieved greatness without resorting to drugs.

As a sports journalist, he had covered numerous events, met inspiring athletes, and written countless articles highlighting the power of sports to unite and uplift communities.

However, as he travels across Cameroon, he became increasingly aware of a growing issue—drug abuse, particularly among young people in towns like Tiko and Kumba.

Stories to resonates with the young audience, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and stay drug-free.

Extending the Reach

The impact of their efforts in Tiko and Kumba motivated NO DRUGS and Reserve for humanity to expand their sensitization campaign. They plan to reach out to schools, football teams, and other community groups to spread awareness about the ills of drug abuse. Philemon envisions workshops, seminars, and talks where experts could share their knowledge and experiences, helping communities understand the risks and develop strategies to combat the problem.

Philemon’s passion and dedication were contagious. More people began to join the cause, volunteering their time and resources to support the mission. Slowly but surely, a movement was building—one that promised to create lasting change in the fight against drug abuse in Cameroon.

A New Chapter for the Community

Through his work with NO DRUGS and Reserve for Humanity, Philemon Mbale was writing a new chapter not only for himself but also for the communities he cares so deeply about. He is transforming from a sports journalist into a passionate advocate for change, using his love of sports and storytelling to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of his time.

He knows the journey ahead is long, but with education, sports, and a united community, they could overcome the challenges and build a brighter, drug-free future for generations to come.
