- Jean-Louis Gasset will make his return to French football if hired by Olympique Marseille, less than a month he left Côte D’Ivoire in acrimonious circumstances.
- Gasset has over 30 years of experience as a professional trainer
- The 70-year-old Frenchman is favorite to replace sacked Genaro Gattuso
Olympic Marseille’s Cameroonian duo could get former Côte D’Ivoire manager, Jean-Louis Gasset as their new head coach if ongoing negotiations pull through.
Gasset, 70, who was dismissed three weeks ago from his role as head coach of the Elephants of Côte D’Ivoire is strongly linked to the vacant position made available this Monday, following the dismissal of Genaro Gattuso.
Gatusso guided Marseille through a 0-1 defeat against Brest in match day 22 of the French Ligue 1 championship. Unfortunately for the Italian legend, the volatile Marseille board has opted to terminate their collaboration with the former AC Milan midfielder.
The gaffer with a 30-year-old management experience will be hoping to get the job and return to serve in his native France where his career started and he went on to work for some great clubs, all be it as deputy coach.
The former Girondin of Bordeaux trainer could join Marseille on interim basis while the 1993 UEFA Champions League winners monitor the situation of Christophe Galtier which they could had as priority but have not been helped by his ongoing racism trials.
Should the Galtier deal happen, Cameroonian duo- Jean Emile Onana and Faris Mombagna Pemi will have a new trainer for the remainder of the season.
