Premier league side, Brighton and Hove Albion FC has officially announced the signing of Cameroonian midfielder, Carlos Baleba from French Ligue 1 side, Lille.

“Welcome to the Albion, Carlos” the club tweeted.

The EFBC product has been secured on a five-year-deal (until June 2028) for an undisclosed fee and becomes Brighton’s seventh signing this summer transfer window.

Carlos at just 19, is already getting the laudable opportunities and making the most of his career out there in Europe, after his first professional move to Lille and now will compete in the English premier league.

The canerooonian born defensive midfielder, started his football journey with Futur Soccer FC before joining Ecole Du Football des Brasseries du Cameroun(EFBC) at 13, where he has been before moving to ply his trade abroad.

Baleba joined Lille on January 2022 and made nine appearances with the club’s youth team. He only made his debut with the senior team in August same year as a substitute during the club’s 4-1 win against Auxerre and went on to play 21 French Ligue 1 games in total(19 last season and 2 this season).

“Carlos is a very good player. He’s very young and a player that suits our style. He will be the future of the club,” Brighton’s head coach Roberto De Zerbi mentions during an interview.

The lad comes in as potential replacement for Moises Caicedo, who moved to Chelsea football club this season.
