NPFL seals N1.6b broadcast deal with StarTimes

Nigeria top flight football league, Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has sealed a 1.6 billion Naira deal with cable television outfit, StarTimes.

The deal became exclusively operational for four seasons.

It is a five-year N1.6 billion deal.

From November 18, 2023, two games will televised and from February 18, 2024, it all be four games for the next two years.

After that, eight matches will be transmitted live for the next three years.

The deal marked the return of television broadcast to the Nigerian league after the recent development of clubs’ live streaming of their games.

Propel Sports has been broadcasting games of the NPFL since the kick-off of the 2023/2024 season via NPFLTV mobile App.

The Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in time past beamed games of the NPFL.

During the 2015/2016 season, South African cable television, Supersports broadcast NPFL games.

This will be the first time that the league will agree broadcast deal with StarTimes.
