The president of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Dr. Daniel Igali has said that he is positive of a good outing in the forthcoming World Wrestling Championship in Belgrade, Serbia from September 16 to 22.
Champion Igali gave the hint when he paid an unscheduled visit to the camp of the Wrestlers at the dynamite theatre of wrestling in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on monday ahead of the first pre-olympic qualifier
Igali noted that he was elated with the level of training so far, expressing optimism that Nigerian wrestlers would distinguish themselves at the world championship.
Champion Igali explained that with the achievement recorded in wrestling in the last 10 years, he is targeting a medal sweep in Serbia, stating that no sport has done better than wrestling in Nigeria.
Daniel Igali noted that records in the wrestling federation speak volumes for the federation and they are leaving nothing to chance to produce a five-star performance in Belgrade, Serbia.
Champion Igali added that the delegation would consist of six wrestlers, two coaches, one medical personnel and two officials.
Champion Daniel Igali also used the medium to congratulate the new Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh on his appointment by president Bola Tinubu.
Daniel Igali hopes of a good working relationship with the new minister, stressing his antecedents are quite encouraging as a grassroots man.
Equally, Daniel Igali who doubles as the commissioner for youth and sports development Bayelsa State commended the magnanimous role of Governor Douye and his duty Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for supporting their camping in Yenagoa.
Champion Igali noted that the Bayelsa State Government has been generous to the Wrestling Federation in financially supporting its projects.
