The local menas of Niger have opened their training camp for the preparation of the 2025 African Nations Championship in Douala.

The home-based Menas arrived in Cameroon on Friday, July 18 to start the second phase of their preparations for the tournament to be hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania next month.

Their first training session for the tournament happened at the Japoma Omnisport Annex stadium in Douala on Saturday afternoon.

These sessions will be sandwiched by two friendlies against Central Africa Republic on July 28 and another against a side to be determined.

Niger has been pitted in the tournament group C alongside runners-up of the last edition Algeria, Guinea, South Africa and hosts Uganda.

Niger, semi-finalist of the last edition of the tournament heads to East Africa with a new status of authority especially after their stunning win against Cameroon last time out.

Coach Harouna Doula Gabde’s will be hoping his directives pay greater dividends this time around so the team goes beyond the semi-final feat in their third consecutive CHAN tournament.

Niger open their campaign on August 4 against Guinea that finished third in the last-but-one edition, before confronting co-hosts Uganda, South Africa and Algeria later in the group stages of the competition.

Noted for their resoluteness and team spirit, Niger is obviously one of the team to watch out for in the tournament.

The tournament reserved for players plying their trade in their country promises to be even more competitive and entertaining this time around.
