Marius Ngon A Tati and Ngah Fabrice were on target on Sunday as Canon Yaounde beat struggling Avion Academy of Douala 2-0 in match day 14 of the MTN Elite One championship.
Ngon’s early strike plus a second half curler from Ngah was enough to earn maximum points for the Kpa Kpum at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium.
Coach Souleymanou Aboubakar’s Canon began the game on a front foot, with a display of excellent possession based football.
The Mekok Megonda were rewarded for their early efforts barely 12 minutes into it when Hughes Eyango and Ngon combined to cause Avion to concede a 20th goal this season.
Though both sides had their fair share of possession and chances to score, it wasn’t to be till the interval.
Canon returned for the second segment almost the same way they finished the first.
Mbaiybassem and mates put Avion on the back foot most often than not.
Ngah Fabrice made it 2-0 just before the hour mark, concluding an interesting passage of play.
Though there were chances in the final 30 minutes, Canon held their advantage till the end.
Ngah’s all round display was demonstrated his knowhow again and helped his side keep a clean sheet on the same day the former Astres and UMS Loum full-back scored his first goal for ten times Cameroon champions.
The latest win takes Canon up to the second spot on the log with 20 points ahead of their game against city rivals Eding Sport de la Lekie.
