Ngange Junior Wilson endured a mixed Sunday afternoon at the CAF Excellence Center in Mbankomo as he skippered ISOHSA, scored and was sent off in the club’s historic 2-1 win against Stade Renard of Melong in a tense cup of Cameroon eighth final clash.
The experienced midfielder scored the opener and the club’s 50th goal of the season while Albert Tiku Egbe scored the other as the Limbe outfit edged the 2019 winners in the game the Elite Two side extended their winning run to seven consecutive games in all FECAFOOT competitions.
ISOHSA finished the intense contest without Ngange who was sent off for two bookable offenses. The box-to-box midfielder who was skipper for the day in the absence of Ashu Brice Tabi but secured the needed result to keep their run in the cup alive.
Coach Mbock’s ISOHSA were underdogs before kick-off, but showed no signs of inferiority as they took the game to Haschou Kerrido and Co from the blast of the first whistle from Referee madam Guimbang Aline.
Ikose Njuma’s close range effort after a beautiful passage of play was saved in the near post by a vigilant Kerrido in goal for Stade Renard as ISOHSA pressed from the opening moments of the contest.
Captain Ngange fired the Limbe outfit ahead after 22 minutes – heading home a well measured ball from an Arrey Jefta corner to make it 1-0.
Agbor Tarkang Clinton could have made it 2-0 when he was served in front of goal with the keeper out of position. Unfortunately, he directed his effort over the woodwork.
ISOHSA had a penalty shout waved when Ghangle Rattensi was brought down in the Stade Renard area, the match officials adjudged Nkuissi’s challenge to be within the laws.
Though Stade Renard forced one save from Frank Dylan Ipoua, ISOHSA were the better side and took a half time lead they deserved.
Upon resumption, the first chance fell to Renard as Ako Alexis missed an open goal in what was an opportunity to level matters for the side that finished runners-up in the Elite One championship playoffs.
Albert Tiku who had been quiet all afternoon secured the second for ISOHSA, charging through the defense to make it 2-0 after 62 minutes.
However, the 2019 Cup winners pulled one back through Landry Nkouam who beat Ipoua for what was the first goal conceded by ISOHSA in the cup this season and ended a run of five games without conceding.
The game assured of a nervy finale when Ngange was sent off with eight minutes on the clock. Through the waves of attack from Brice Sindjo, Roger Temga and Co the Limbe outfit held their ground with an exceptional efforts from Serge Bengono and Arrey Jefta in midfield plus Ghangle Rattensi and Louis Ediage in defense to secure their passage into the quarter-final and a game against Canon Yaounde.
ISOHSA who have never gone beyond the 16th finals of the Cup of Cameroon are through to the quarter-final this time around and playing beautifully – they have eliminated Legends of Kumba, Unisport of Bafang and Stade Renard of Melong to book their next date in the national challenge Cup.
The club that scored 45 goals in 21 MTN Elite Two championship games this season has added six in three cup of Cameroon outings with Jnr’s opener against Renard being the 50th goal of the first season as an Elite outfit.
Kouo Gnongnong and mates will challenge Canon Yaoundé this weekend for a place in the semi-final.
