- Dynamo Moscow began their Russian Premier League season with a 3-1 win against Fakel Voronezh, highlighted by Moumi Ngamaleu’s first goal for the club
- Despite a red card for Daniil Fomin, Dynamo maintained their dominance, with goals from Ilya Lepsky and Yaroslave Gladyshev securing the victory
- Fakel’s late goal by Yaroslav Markov was not enough to change the outcome
Dynamo Moscow kicked off their Russian Premier League campaign with a commanding 3-1 victory over Fakel Voronezh on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the VTB Arena. Cameroon international Moumi Ngamaleu opened his goal account for Dynamo, netting the second goal in the 21st minute to extend Ilya Lepsky’s early lead.
This is a moral boost for the 30-year-old Cameroonian who scored six goals and offered five assists in 26 league games last season.
The match began with Dynamo taking an early advantage, thanks to Lepsky’s goal in the 4th minute. Ngamaleu doubled the lead 17 minutes later, showcasing his clinical finishing skills. However, the home team faced a setback when Daniil Fomin was shown a red card in the 37th minute for a reckless challenge. Fakel’s Sergei Vladimirovich Bryzgalov was also sent off for a foul, leaving both teams with ten men.
Despite being a man down, Dynamo continued to press forward. Yaroslave Gladyshev added a third goal for Dynamo in the 29th minute, putting the game beyond Fakel’s reach. Fakel managed to pull one back through Yaroslav Markov in the 74th minute, but it was merely a consolation.
Fakel Voronezh dominated possession and created several chances, with over 11 shot attempts, but they lacked the clinical edge to convert their opportunities into goals.
With this victory, Dynamo Moscow secured three points and currently sits third on the league table. Their next match is scheduled against Nizhny Novgorod on Saturday, July 27, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
