Women’s Football representatives of Ogun State lock horns with their counterparts from Lagos in the final of National Youth Games football event today, the Chairman of Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi says the Gateway girls have all it takes to win Gold.
The girls have shown outstanding features since the event started with convincing wins against Team Adamawa and Team Abia on their way to the final.
The team recorded a 5-0 victory against Adamawa in the quarter final, and also defeated Abia State 3-1 in the Semi Final.
As they file out against Lagos today, Alhaji Majekodunmi noted that although a medal is assured already, but it’s only right to go all out for victory.
The NFF Executive Board Member who spoke with the team via phone said “The girls have done well, we are glad that they are the cynosure of all eyes at the National Youth Games”
“As it is, I believe they have all it takes to win, the whole state is behind them and their efforts will not be in vain”.
Alhaji Majekodunmi assured that apart from the State government’s form of encouragement to the athletes, OGUN FA will also specially lift their mood by the time they return to Abeokuta with the top prize.
The final with Lagos comes up today at the Jay Jay Okocha stadium, Ugwashi Uku, Delta State.
