The Executive Board of the African Clubs Association (ACA) has selected Morocco as the official headquarters for the association, a move that reflects the country’s leadership in African sports.

As part of this milestone, Morocco and the African Clubs Association signed a memorandum of understanding on January 27 on the sidelines of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw. The agreement is expected to lay the foundation for a long-term partnership that will enhance the association’s operations and influence across Africa.

ACA President Hersi Said congratulated Morocco, including Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF), for the successful bid. “We are excited to begin this new chapter with Morocco as the host of the African Clubs Association,” said Hersi, Gabon All Sport reported.

The new headquarters in Morocco will serve as a hub for African football clubs, promoting collaboration, development, and the growth of the sport across the continent. This tactical move is evidence of Morocco’s ability to attract international and continental sports organizations and its commitment to driving African football to new heights.

On Friday, January 24, the African Clubs Association voted 8 out of 12, in favour of the official headquarters being hosted in Morocco. The country’s selection comes as no surprise, given the country’s consistent efforts to elevate African football through world-class infrastructure, strategic investments, and a visionary approach to empowering clubs across the continent.

The Moroccan proposal stood out due to the country’s vision of empowering African clubs. Morocco’s strong track record of hosting major sporting events, including the FIFA Club World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, was a deciding factor in the decision. In addition to hosting the men’s and women’s Africa Cup of Nations this year, the country is preparing to co-organize the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
