France are into the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup after beating Africa’s last representative at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Morocco 4-0. in the Round of 16 on Tuesday.

The damage was done in the first 23 minutes, by which time, France were already 3-0 up.

Kadidaou Diani got the first, nodding into an empty goal before she set up Kenza Dali and Eugenie Le Sommer’s goals afterward.

Morocco were better in the second half, almost scoring just seconds after the restart, but they couldn’t get themselves back into the game before Le Sommer nodded in her second from close range to make sure of the win.

This will be Morocco’s first appearance at the Women’s World Cup, becoming the first Arab nation to achieve such a feat.

It was a memorable tournament for Africa as three out of the four representatives made it out of the group stage for the first time in the history of the competition.

France will face the co-hosts, Australia, in their quarter-final, which will take place on Saturday.

Morocco’s historic first World Cup comes to an end in the round of 16.
