Morocco has positioned itself as a continental and global hub of football, thanks to the work done by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation under the enlightened vision of His Majesty the King of Morocco, according to Omar Khyari, Advisor to the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
In anticipation of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, the Future Media Initiative (FMI) brought together over 200 media and social networks from around the world in Rabat.
As per Omar Khyari, the conference aimed to strengthen collaboration and build peace among participants.
A Global Gathering for Football and Development
The conference featured over 214 participants, including 50 nationals, from media and content creation backgrounds. Khyari noted that content creators are increasingly becoming the new media, with their own unique ethics and audience reach.
“We are proud to host this international conference in Morocco, which is rare for Africa,” Khyari added. “We want to demonstrate our capabilities and show that Morocco is a hub for African and global football.”
Showcasing Morocco’s Development Strategy
During the conference, participants requested a visit to the infrastructure and cities that will host the AFCON and the World Cup. Khyari explained that the infrastructures would showcase Morocco’s long-term development strategy, which is not dependent only on specific competitions.
“We built the TGV train from Casablanca to Tangier, which is already functional,” Khyari said. “This demonstrates our multisectoral approach and ability to connect different sectors, allowing us to reach this level of development.”
Promoting Peace and Solidarity
The FMI aims to mobilize the media and the world for peace and global African solidarity. Khyari emphasized the importance of building peace, solidarity, and silencing conflicts in Africa and the world.
“We want the media, the whole world, to be mobilized for peace and global African solidarity around the World Cup and the AFCON,” he said. “We want to show that Morocco and the African continent can be pioneers on cutting-edge topics like, building peace, solidarity, and silencing conflicts.”
By hosting this conference, Morocco has demonstrated its commitment to using sports as a tool for development, peace, and solidarity. As the country prepares to host these major international events, it is clear that Morocco is ready to leave a mark on the world stage.
