The junior Atlas Lions of Morocco beat Senegal 3-2 in a friendly game on Monday in Morocco.
The game was an opportunity for both nations to test their preparations for the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled towards the end of next month.
Morocco ran out victorious. A result which sends a frightening message to group opponents, the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria whom they will encounter in the opening group game, before facing Zambia and South Africa.
Morocco had threaten to boycott the 2023 U-17 AFCON if the team is not allowed to fly directly to the host country. This same demand was made during the CHAN and the “then” defending champions ended up not participating.
The tournament is scheduled for April 29 to May 19 in Algeria later this year.
The four semi-finalists in Algeria will be Africa’s representative at the FIFA U17 World Cup that will be hosted in Peru later this year.
