Morocco and Africa: A Partnership Beyond Controversies

In recent weeks, a persistent narrative has sought to impose the idea that Africa, as a whole, is opposed to Morocco. This thesis, widely circulated on social media and in certain media spaces, is not based on any factual reality. It is part of an organized and artificially constructed campaign, driven by clearly identifiable actors.

Contrary to what this narrative suggests, it does not reflect a collective African position. The origin of this campaign essentially traces back to a single country, to which is added the isolated intervention of an Egyptian actor. Presenting these positions as continental hostility is therefore a clear manipulation.

The methods used are now well known. This campaign relies primarily on fake accounts and coordinated networks, activated to create an illusion of mass opposition and to suggest that Morocco is facing unanimous African resistance. This representation is both false and misleading, as it does not correspond to diplomatic realities or to Morocco’s actual relations with many African countries.

In this context, the response should not be defensive or emotional. The issue is not to justify Morocco’s African identity by repeatedly stating that “Morocco is African,” but rather to explicitly denounce this campaign, expose its mechanisms, and clearly identify its sources. Africa is far from being opposed to Morocco, and the hostility being staged is artificial, mainly fueled by an Egyptian actor and by a country whose contempt for Morocco is openly expressed.
