Cameroon international Blondon Meyapia and his French club Red Star FC took another step towards promotion following a 2-1 victory against FC Sedan over the weekend.

Goals from Jovany Ikanga A Ngele and Cheikh N’Doye and just a reply Guillaume Khous was enough to earn maximum points for the hosts.

The ninth win in 19 games this season left the fans visibly satisfied as their team now sits a point behind leaders Martigues.

Meyapia made the eleventh appearance in this campaign during the tight contest as the host picked up three important points in the driving seat in their quest for graduation to the second tier championship.

The former Fauve Azur Elite defender has been a starter under former Senegal international Habib Beye this season and hugely accounts for how far they have come.

Meyapia is in his third season in France, a second at Red Star having initially joined them on a loan deal from SCO Angers, before signing a permanent deal last year.

Red Star constitutes the list of some of the historic clubs in France but have experienced dwindling fortunes in the past few years.

The Cameroon international who made his debut for the five-time African champions in September 2020 and played in the 2021 U20 AFCON tournament in Mauritania is expected to inspire Red Star to return to its best days.
