Cameroon midfielder Mark Ojong has completed a move to MOIK Baku, signing a six-month contract with the Azerbaijani First Division side following his release as a free agent.

The 28-year-old links up with a MOIK Baku team currently sitting sixth after Matchday 12, as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the second half of the season.

For Ojong, the move represents another chapter in a career shaped by constant travel and adaptation. Born in Douala, he rose through the ranks in Cameroon with Rainbow Bamenda and YOSA Bamenda, where his energetic midfield displays quickly marked him out as a player with potential beyond the domestic league.

That promise earned him an early move to the United States, where he featured in the USL Championship with Seattle Sounders 2 before joining San Antonio FC. The American spell was a formative period, exposing him to a more physical and tactical brand of football and helping mould him into a disciplined central midfielder.

Ojong later returned to Africa, gaining top-flight experience in Tunisia with AS Soliman, before spells back home in Cameroon and a brief adventure in Vietnam, further underlining his reputation as a footballing journeyman comfortable in new environments.

Now at 28, often considered the prime years for a midfielder, Ojong arrives in Azerbaijan with a wealth of experience across different leagues and cultures. His versatility in central and defensive midfield is expected to add balance and maturity to the MOIK Baku engine room.

The short-term nature of the deal suggests a move of mutual opportunity: MOIK Baku secure an experienced professional capable of making an immediate impact, while Ojong gets a platform to relaunch his career and attract longer-term interest.

If successful, the partnership could yet extend beyond six months, but for now, both player and club will be focused on climbing the table and making the remainder of the season count.
