English Premier League outfit Manchester United are interested in Inter Milan’s goalkeeper Andre Onana, for next football season and looking at a possible summer transfer deal, joining Chelsea in the race to sign the prolific keeper.

United’s first choice keeper, David De Gea’s contract has come to an end this summer and the club may not renew it after 12 years, thus, prompting them to go in search of a new keeper and Andre Onana is top on their list.

Coach Eric Ten Hag who has been keen on bringing in another keeper, aims at strengthening his goalkeeping compartment ahead of next season with Onana as possible replacement for De Gea should he leave, after an impressive season with Inter.

Fresh from winning the golden glove at the just ended UEFA Champions league for being the tournament’s best goalkeeper, Onana has been on the radar of these clubs for a while now, most especially Chelsea who have been bidding while the season was still ongoing.

The 27-year-old Cameroonian’s play style and flexibility with the legs is what makes him stand out from other keepers, seemingly attracting these big names who would want to benefit from his expertise at goal.

Ten Hag has worked with Andre Onana for four-and-a-half season at Ajax and was part of the team that almost reached the Champions League final in 2019, thus giving The Red Devils an upper hand in the bidding process.

Unconfirmed reports have it that the Champions League finalists may sell him for about €40-50 million. Until then, Andre Onana remains Inter Milan’s.

Onana moved to Inter Milan on July 1,2022 on a free transfer from Ajax Amsterdam.
