Cameroonian forward Jean Pierre Nsame scored twice while Elia Meshack from the DR Congo got the other goal for Young Boys Bern to beat Lugano by 3-2 in a nail-biting Swiss Cup final on Sunday afternoon on Sunday at the Stade de Suisse.

Though it ended up being a tighter contest, the first-half brace from the Cameroon international made the difference and ensured Raphaël Wicky’s men completed a domestic double after a historic season.

Young Boys took a 2-0 lead to the interval but were made to double their efforts to win the title after a stronger second-half performance from Lugano.

Nsame opened scores in the midway in the first segment and added a second in added time to give the side from Albi and their fans a comfortable lead at the interval.

Lugano who played well all afternoon pulled one back eight minutes into the second segment through substitute Mattia Bottani but speedy winger Meshack restored the two goals cushion.

When Renato Steffen scored late on there was hopes of a late comeback though just three minutes was left on the clock.

The equalizer wasn’t to be as Young Boys held on to win their eighth Swiss Cup and first since 2020.

The latest brace from Nsame means the Swiss Super League top scorer finishes the season with 29 goals in 41 matches in all competitions and another double.
